Printer Reviews- The envy 5560 does not have an automatic feeder (ADF) for submitting documents on multiple pages to the scanner without user intervention. Instead, you need to load your originals one page at a time, scan each one, and if they are bi-lateral, switch them manually and scan them again, repeating the process for each page.

Indeed, however, if you have to do heavy-duty handling of documents with envy, you are looking in the wrong place altogether. In the past, our main objection to this envy would be its high price per page (CPP), but as mentioned, the Instant ink HP program makes buying ink a much more reasonably priced prospect. In fact, it goes a long way towards the evening of the playing field between this entry-level model and a larger volume of inkjet printers designed to print thousands of pages each month (in, of course, a much lower cost per page).

The savings that instant ink can result in appropriate circumstances make this budget mind envy much easier to recommend, more so than the previous envy, for users who do not print much, or make many copies. It has a secret weapon when paired with instant ink: super-cheap printed photos. While not as high-tech-or fantastic-looking as some other envy model in its family tree, the envy 5660 isn't a bad-looking AIO.

But part of what makes it look compact and attractive is that the lack of an ADF. When leaving the mechanism off the printer often makes for a shorter, more streamlined-looking machine in general, without the ADF being seriously impaired by the AIO's scanning and copying functionality. You'll want to use it only for page-by-A-time kind of jobs. However, with the printer in just over 6 inches high, and weighing a faction over 15 pounds, you can place it almost anywhere, including under low suspension shelves or cabinets.

The only thing under this relatively large coverage is the SD-card slot, though. You will not find support for printing from other types of memory devices, such as USB flash drives, or for direct printing from PictBridge compliant digital cameras. Dig into the manual, though, and will reveal a number of mobile printing options. These include support for several cloud print services, including Google cloud print. Other mobile printing features, such as Apple AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct, are also listed for support. The latter (Wi-Fi Direct) allows you to connect your mobile device (say, smartphone or tablet) to the printer without the device being part of an existing network, wirelessly or otherwise.
